“Regular Community Outreach Programs have always been a part of the ethos of AMH. In fact, some 120 years ago, AMH was established as a pioneering missionary organization to serve the community. And we are glad, today, that we continue to reach and touch the community in many different ways, positively,” said the Corporate CEO of AMH Dr George Cheriyan.

“Partnering with premier pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, like AstraZeneca, in these kinds of community outreach projects helps us to reach a wide cross section of society. Only by increasing awareness, screening, and knowledge of medical problems can we hope to increase wellness in the community,” he added.

According to the National Health Survey 2018 of Bahrain, the percentage of self-reported diabetes among Bahraini respondents was 15.4% and its prevalence among non-Bahrainis was 6.9%. Those who reported as diagnosed or suffering from Diabetes was 10.8%.
